The San Ramon Planning Commission on Tuesday night (April 15) is scheduled to hold its seventh public hearing on the Faria Preserve residential development proposed for the northwest part of the city.
The project, planned by developer Lafferty Communities, aims to place single-family homes, town homes, condominiums, apartments and senior housing — totaling 740 residential units overall — on approximately 286.5 acres near Deerwood and Bollinger Canyon roads. Also included in the plans are a community park, a church and an educational facility.
The planning commission has held six public hearings on the proposal since last November, and it appears as if Tuesday’s discussion won’t be the last.
City staff recommends commissioners receive the latest Faria presentation, take public testimony, provide comments to staff and continue the hearing to May 6 for additional discussion.
Each hearing to date has elicited public debate, and according to resident Robert Klingner, Tuesday promises to be no different.
Klingner, who represents a group of Faria development opponents known as the Coalition of Northwest Neighborhoods, said he plans to present the commission Tuesday with two petitions containing just over 300 signatures from San Ramon residents opposed to the project.
The Faria hearing is set to start soon after the open-session meeting convenes at 7 p.m inside the San Ramon City Council Chambers at 2222 Camino Ramon.
