"Anyone watching these two games saw two giants battling each other for 14 innings," said Coach Don Johns. "We pitched great, played team offense, used our speed and in the end did not make an error with a great defensive effort. This was amateur baseball at its very best and it is hard for either team to lose."
The Hoots team is made up of top juniors and seniors from local high schools. Its season ended Sunday when it lost to the Playa Vista Orioles while competing for a berth in the Connie Mack World Series held in Farmington, N.M.
"One step from the Connie Mack World Series is a huge achievement for our club," said Johns. "For the three years we have been in Connie Mack baseball this is our greatest achievement as a team."
