Gym class dismissed

The gymnasium next to the parking lot on Danville Boulevard at San Ramon Valley High School was torn down last week, leaving concrete stairs leading to a flattened ground. Known as the "small gym," and in previous years as the "girls gym," it was built in 1939 and was the oldest building in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. A new main gymnasium will be built on this spot, part of the school modernization program paid for by Measure A funds. Behind the site is the auxiliary gym that was completed in March 2008.
