Stretches of Livorna Road in Alamo are on track to be resurfaced during the coming days, with the first project set for Thursday, according to Contra Costa County officials.
A county contractor will perform the roadwork from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday from Danville Boulevard to Lavender Drive, county officials said.
Electronic signs will be set up to alert drivers of the scheduled work, and heavy congestion and delays are expected, they said. Local residents will have limited access to the corridor, so the county encourages drivers to avoid the area and consider alternate routes.
Livorna Road from Lavender Drive to Miranda Avenue is scheduled to be resurfaced some time next week, county officials said.
First project set for Thursday? The project has been in progress since 7/28. The initial slurry ended up on my white car and I had to use WD-40 to get it off. I assume it’s because they reopened the road before the stuff was dry. Yesterday I had to drive through wet oil for the same reason. They are putting down the wet stuff at 2:00 in the afternoon and then opening the lane before it is dry. Makes no sense to me.
Short notice of complete shutdown, not appreciated.
It does not appear they considered doing 1/2 at a time, with traffic control. It’s certainly cheaper this way, but really, really inconvenient.
There are a number of streets/neighborhoods that only connect to the world by dumping onto Livorna Rd, and folks on those are in for headaches.
