Smart College Financial Aid Strategies

Original post made by Doing College, another community, on Apr 25, 2012

Dear Dr. LaScala: My son is a high school sophomore and the gap between what we can pay and what a college education costs has widened. He has good grades so we are hoping for as much financial aid as possible, preferably in the form of grants and awards we do not have to pay back. Do you have any advice that we can use now to ease the financial strain later? We get plenty of notices from college financial aid planners who say they can save us money. Can they?
