Your not safe, not even in you're own home

Uploaded: Jul 18, 2013
Because were watching u.

I sincerely hope that the above title and sentence bothered you. This is not meant as an offense to the casual readers of my little, humorous ramblings. No, it is meant only as a prayer that you are paying attention, and that the English teachers of America are still teaching something in their classrooms.

So that nobody's sensibilities are injured:

You're not safe, not even in your own home.

Because we're watching you.

I have a reputation of being somewhat particular about the English language and its proper use. I have more than once been called the Grammar Police -- and frequently far less friendly terms -- because of my obsessive need to correctly form a sentence.

Someone recently came up with a brilliant idea -- one that I think our dear Congress should seriously consider turning into law.

Behold! This is the test that would allow or deny you access to the internet. I suspect that after requiring this test that approximately 200 people would be allowed on the glorious world wide web. The sad part about this is that I am not joking.

On the bright side, none of my favorite sites would be overloaded ever again. Look out Netflix, here I come!

Sierra, you are exactly right! I remember the first writing class I took in college. The topic of "writer's block" came up, and the instructor said there is no such thing. "A good thought, a clear idea, a complete thought will always find its way to paper. Dumb ideas and poor thoughts that don't deserve to be read, are usually the ones that don't make it to paper, and we're all better for it."
If you do not know the difference between your and you're, you're wasting my time, and I shouldn't have to work so hard to figure out your message.
Sierra, I'm sure you're plenty of fun at parties, where the lampshades probably stay on the lamps and not on your head. And I'm sure your family is proud of you simply in the knowledge that you were actually paying attention that day in the fourth grade when these things were covered...

I can usually understand what the writer is trying to communicate when they mix you're and yours. I agree with Dan, funbuster at any gathering.

You're delightful, Dan. I suspect your parties are made all the brighter by your presence. Cheers!

And thank you Patrick. I appreciate the compliment and that you see the post for what it is -- funny. Not everyone enjoys word humor :)

Ohhhh, forgive me Sierra!

It must have been >my< misunderstanding that your were actually trying to be funny when you wrote "The sad part about this is that I am not joking."

Most call that SARCASM, not HUMOR.

I better watch myself, I typed "your were" instead of "you were".

I guess I'll be accused of not knowing the difference between "your" and "you" and get a sarcastic remark from someone.

Time to hide from...SIERRA RHODES!
