With the move to incorporate Alamo defeated, residents are looking to see what the future holds for the community. Members of Alamo Improvement Association will address that very question, among other things, this week.
The AIA Board of Directors has scheduled a meeting for this Thursday at the Creekside Community Church. The 7 p.m. meeting will cover a variety of topics; the agenda is posted at www.alamoca.org.
One discussion item will be: What is AIA's role now that incorporation has been defeated? In the past, AIA has provided input and direction to the county on planning issues.
The Planning Committee members examine projects that don't meet with county code or require some discretionary approval. The commission assigns a member to look over the project application and garner information before bringing it back to the committee for its consideration. The committee meets at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month at Creekside Community Church.
Any recommendations made by the Planning Committee are then voted on the next night by the AIA Board of Directors. Any recommendation by the board is then forwarded to the county, who will ultimately rule on the item.
AIA officials have said they expect to continue in that role, and will discuss what if any changes will be made as the community goes into the future, post-election.
