2.5 earthquake strikes Danville

The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting that an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.5 struck just northeast of the intersection of Sycamore Valley Road and Camino Tassajara in the Short Ridge in Danville at 10:20 a.m. this morning. Preliminary reports said it had a depth of about 4.9 miles.

Several minor earthquakes also struck earlier this week near the same location. An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.5 hit near the area Monday afternoon at 3:15 p.m. with a depth of 5.5 miles, followed by two aftershocks.
