A cash bag with $2,800 was taken from the Diablo Gas & Mart at the corner of Diablo Road and Front Street sometime from 3-6 a.m., Monday, March 15.
When the business owner and police officers reviewed the video that was recording during the crime, they saw that the perpetrator was a former employee who had been let go recently. He lived on Valley Creek Lane.
"They get a search warrant, go to the house, and find approximately $2,560," said Shields.
Police arrested Amir Iranmahd, 23, on suspicion of commercial burglary.
Shields said that more businesses are setting up video surveillance now that the cost has come down. The new digital video recorders produce better still shots than the old-fashioned type, plus they have longer record times, he added.
