At approximately 12:06 p.m. the San Ramon Police Department responded to the report of an assault with a deadly weapon at a residence in Canyon Creek apartments.
The suspect, 23-year-old Enrique De La Campa, had entered the residence of his former girlfriend. He allegedly attacked a male guest of his former girlfriend with a kitchen knife and stabbed him numerous times in the upper body and face.
The victim, a 28-year-old male, was transported to John Muir Medical Center and is expected to survive the injuries. The former girlfriend of the suspect was unharmed.
The suspect fled the residence prior to the police's arrival. At approximately 12:30 p.m., the suspect was located and arrested as he fled on foot onto I-680.
The San Ramon Police Department would like to thank several residents who reported seeing De La Campa as he fled.
De La Campa, who graduated from California High School in San Ramon in 2006 and studied fire technology at Las Positas College, was booked into the Contra Costa County Main Detention Facility in Martinez.
