Does anyone know if they have to be in the original bottles? I poured all of mine into a larger, empty vitamin bottle so I didn't have a bunch of smaller bottles in my cabinet.

Nicole,

Thanks for the great question. No, the pharmaceuticals do not have to be in their original packaging. You can bring them in the vitamin bottle and dispose of them at the take-back event.

Once the take-back is over, there is a bin located in the lobby of the Danville PD which will also take expired/unwanted/unused drugs. However there are more stringent rules as to how they must be dropped off.

Here is an excerpt from the section on the pharmaceutical drop-off program...

Between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday, residents may come to the Danville Police Department, 510 La Gonda Way to dispose of their unused or expired drugs. Regardless of whether they are prescription or non-prescription, all unused or expired drugs must be placed in a sealable plastic bag, then deposited in the Pharmaceutical Disposal Bin located in the Police Department Lobby.

To see the entire entry, just go to the Town's website. Web Link

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the Danville PD at (925) 314-3700.

Thanks and have a great day.

Geoff.
