Why hasn't the Danville PD done more to bring about awareness of the autoburglaries? Are these smash & grabs? What items are they going after? Are these all from unlocked cars with valuables on the front seats?

The Danville Police are not omnipresent. They issue warning regularly not to leave valuables in plain site in your auto. During economic downturns there is more of this type of crime. During economic bubbles there is more of a different kind of crime--think Bernie Madoff.

Omnipresent is not what citizens need. They need information. I.e. using this site or The Patch to give crime prevention tips as these occur. Is it because they are in the townhome area rather than a residential community? Do the folks who live there not deserve the same courtesy that the people of certain neighborhoods get when these break ins occur? They have provided this info for other burglary rashes...why haven't we heard any info that help us TRY to prevent these?
