A group of unknown suspects vandalized the roof of Diablo Vista Middle School last month, causing thousands of dollars in damages.
"The school discovered it and reported that unknown suspects climbed on top of the multi-purpose room at Diablo Vista vandalized the air conditioning system and vent work," said Danville Police Lt. Jeff Moule.
Between Monday, June 27 and Tuesday, June 28 the vandals broke several pipes from the air conditioning unit, kicked the system's cooling fins and broke vents and other sheet metal work. According to Sgt. Allan Shields, the broken pipes caused a water leak that damaged the structure.
Damages were estimated between $50,000 and $100,000, though school officials were not available for comment. The school district's insurance company is currently involved.
"Detectives looked into it and the case is still open but at this point there are no leads, no witnesses no suspect," Moule said.
