A Danville resident was charged with assault with a deadly weapon after striking a man with a stick on July 23.
According to police reports, Iver Hilde, 42, was on the corner of Railroad and Prospect avenues when he struck a male bicyclist. Hilde was not provoked.
"Hilde struck him in the right hand and leg. When victim started to call 911 Hilde made some threats," said Lt. Jeff Moule.
Hilde, who has had several run-ins with the Danville Police, is charged with felony assault with deadly weapon and dissuading a witness. The district attorney has added charges of being drunk in public and vandalism of police vehicle from a previous incident where Hilde kicked out a police car window.
Moule said Hilde could face prison time and is currently being held held at the Martinez Detention Facility under $110,000 bail.
