Explaining early admissions

In this week's Doing College expert adviser Elizabeth LaScala provides guidelines for students considering early admission to colleges, a hotly contested topic.

"Critics point out that early decision...favors students who do not need financial assistance and who have access to strong parental and counselor support systems," LaScala writes. "In contrast, early action gives the student an early response without a binding commitment."
