Woman dead after being hit by multiple cars on I-680

Police to determine whether death was accident or suicide

A 25-year-old Concord woman was struck by multiple cars and killed on Interstate 680 near the Walnut Creek BART station early this morning, according to a California Highway Patrol officer.

The woman's name has not been released. She appears to have either jumped or fallen from a BART train track over-crossing onto southbound I-680 north of the Olympic Boulevard exit, CHP Officer John Fransen said.

The CHP is investigating whether it was a suicide.

Fransen said the CHP received reports around 12:15 a.m. of a possible dead body in the road.

Officers arriving on the scene found the woman's body and saw that she had been struck by multiple cars, he said.

All southbound lanes at the scene of the crash were closed for about 30 minutes until one lane was reopened. All lanes reopened around 2:50 a.m., Fransen said.

Neither the CHP or BART police could confirm whether the fatal collision was connected to a medical emergency reported around the same time at the Walnut Creek BART station.

Both agencies are investigating the collision.

So 18 hours after it happened, here's what the reporter was able to uncover:
- it may or may not have been a suicide
- it may or may not have been related to a BART medical emergency reported around the same time
- she may or may not have jumped/fallen from a BART overcrossing somewhere in Walnut Creek
- there may or may not have been witnesses

Awesome reporting! Glad I wasted the 2 minutes it took to read the piece!

Ralph - sounds like you have plenty of spare time to do the investigative reporting yourself. This is the Danville Express, not the NY Times. I didn't know anything about this event, and now I at least have some basic info. Cut em some slack dude.

I wonder what her name was and what was her mental state. Poor soul.

It would have been better if you spent the two minutes praying for her soul. Or even better, your own, which you probably need.

Very sad---but a news outlet that gives free rein to a leftie like Tom Cushing with absolutely NO commentary from the other side--cannot be considered serious.

Hey Ralph, sounds like you have some critics...don't let them bother you.

Most of the time when I take a moment to comment about issues printed in the Danville critics can't wait to throw rocks..

One thing you should know...they are listening to you Ralph.

The only one that commented on the situation was Marilyn.

Just my opinion, thanks for listening...Julia Pardini fro Alamo

PS... you are right Mike Davis...the DE is not the NY times.
