CHP: Driver smashes into post office, flees scene

Authorities search for driver who plowed into Diablo Post Office

Authorities are trying to find a motorist who rammed into a post office in unincorporated Danville and then fled the scene Wednesday morning.

The hit-and-run crash was reported around 7:35 a.m. at the Diablo Post Office on El Nido, California Highway Patrol Officer John Fransen said.

A car -- believed to be a blue BMW -- crashed into the side of the post office, damaging the building and some of its electrical and water lines, Fransen said. The car was subsequently driven away from the scene and has not been located.

No injuries were reported, and the post office was open for business Wednesday.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about the incident should call the Contra Costa County Area CHP office at 646-4980.

Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. Alcohol will do that to people!

Hey Bill, you really think a few morning drinks was the reason...Maybe the fool just wanted to get his mail early...Only kidding...I think you are right.

Just a little humor to start the day.

Perhaps he thought the Post Office had "drive-through" service.
