Annual 'Bah Humbug' run set for this weekend

Proceeds help pay for parks and community service programs

For those who enjoy both running and the holiday season, this Saturday may have just the thing: the annual San Ramon Parks & Community Services "Bah Humbug 5k Run and Walk."

It's not too late to register. Entry is $40, and runners and walkers will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt, beverages and before- and after-race goodies.

The run is held on a flat, fast, certified course along the streets of Bishop Ranch Business Park, with all proceeds going to offset the cost of parks and community service programs.

Trophies will go to the top male and female finishers, and medals will be awarded for the top three finishers in each age group for men and women.

The event is also a chance for runners to dress up in holiday outfits -- and possibly get some use out of that ugly sweater that's lurking in the back of the closet.

Race-day registration and check-in opens at 7:30 a.m. at Bishop Ranch II, 2694 Bishop Drive at the corner of Camino Ramon and Bollinger Canyon Road in San Ramon. The run and walk will begin at 9 a.m.

For more information on the Bah Humbug run, call San Ramon Parks & Community Services at 973-3200. To pre-register, download this application and send it in with your money or show up the morning of the run.

On Your Mark Events will handle times and race results.
