New sod laid at Hap Magee Ranch dog park

'Canine Corral' remains closed for winter; set to reopen March 1

Danville maintenance staff have finished installing 16,800 square feet of new hybrid sod at the Hap Magee Ranch Park dog park to replace turf that became worn down over the years, town officials announced this week.

The dog park, known as the "Canine Corral," is currently closed for the winter, as it is every year to allow town staff to make repairs and changes.

"We are aware of how popular the dog park is to our residents, but we are asking that residents honor the (annual) moratorium and give the sod a chance to be properly established," said Jed Johnson, Danville maintenance services director.

The dog park is due to reopen March 1. Fences are set to be put up in the meantime to protect the new sod.

Hap Magee Ranch Park is located at 1025 La Gonda Way in Danville. For more information, contact Johnson at 314-3450 or
