Danville Councilwoman Karen Stepper has announced her intent to run for a fourth term this November.
"Serving on the council has been an extremely awesome opportunity," Stepper said during a phone interview Thursday.
Stepper, first elected in 2002, said she seeks another four years on the council in part to continue working with other town leaders on important infrastructure projects, historical resources and effective budgeting.
"What we've done has been a really strong team effort from the town to make sure that as we went through these hard budget times that everybody gave the best ideas and found the most efficient way to make sure that all those programs continued in Danville that make Danville special," she added.
Stepper also pointed to transportation, public safety and parks as other focus areas for her as a councilwoman.
Stepper has to wait another six months to make her candidacy official. The nomination period opens in mid-July.
