Tri-Valley man arrested for allegedly shooting into ex-girlfriend's home

A San Ramon man was arrested after allegedly firing shots into his ex-girlfriend's San Leandro home on Saturday night, police said.

Officers arrested 62-year-old Craig O'Sullivan shortly after they responded at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday to a report of a shooting in the 1200 block of Pacific Avenue near Thrasher Park.

Police arrived at the residence, located about two blocks from the San Leandro BART station, and determined that the victim's ex-boyfriend had come to her home and discharged a firearm.

O'Sullivan allegedly fled the scene prior to police arriving, but officers caught up with him as he was driving on Marina Boulevard.

He was arrested and booked into county jail in connection with the shooting, police said.

Boy, am I relieved to know that this fine, stable gentleman had the opportunity to exercise his precious Second Amendment rights! Just when you think you're safe around here, some large, dark house from San Leandro comes a-prowlin', late on a Saturday night, stalking you stealthily, mayhem on its mind, meaning to do you harm, just waiting for that one mistake, ready to make its move.

Fortunately, Citizen O'Sullivan was a-packin' that trusty sidearm and could defend himself by blasting away at the marauding house, and driving that cowardly bungalow bill to flee all the way back home, over There, where it belongs.

Word is he even hit it once or twice. When's the parade in his honor?

What would have been really instructional, is if the woman being shot at in the house quickly reached for her holstered loaded gun (since home invasion robberies are prevalent enough that carrying ones gun around the house is as important as it is when one is "out and about") and shot back to defend herself.
Then we would have seen how useful a gun is in situations like this. I wonder if a gun battle would have erupted.
Reminds me of the home invasion up in Round Hill North 10 to 15 years ago. The homeowner, and expert marksman respected by and known to police through his frequenting pistol firing ranges, observes from upstairs the gun wielding perpetrators, goes gets his gun from his room (wrong spot, should have been loaded and holstered) and comes back out to the upstairs landing and opens fire. The gun served him well, he killed one of the intruders, wounded the other, and in the process of becoming a hero to the fun gun loving crowd, he was shot and killed. Game over, dead, no longer a husband, no longer a father, no longer a friend, no longer enjoying life.
It begs the question, would he be alive today if he had not pulled the gun.
