Town seeks volunteers for Danville's Lend-A-Hand Day

April 26 event aims to help seniors with yard and home maintenance

The town of Danville has announced it is looking for volunteers to participate in its 11th annual Lend-A-Hand Day, which provides seniors with free yard cleanup and minor home repairs.

Lend-A-Hand Day will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 26, the final Saturday of the month. The event is held in honor of Older Americans Month, which occurs in May.

Next week marks National Volunteer Recognition Week, which the Danville Town Council honored with a proclamation Tuesday.

The town asks individuals and groups to volunteer to assist work crews during Lend-A-Hand Day. To learn more, visit the town website or call volunteer program specialist Julie Mason at 314-3458.
