City readies for Run San Ramon

Independence Day classic offers events for whole family

Before lounging around the barbecue grill or gazing at fireworks, kickstart July 4th celebrations with the healthy, family-friendly run/walk event Run San Ramon.

An East Bay Independence Day tradition, Run San Ramon offers three different race events: a 3K Fun Walk, 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run.

The races will take place on flat, fast and paved courses throughout the Bishop Ranch area of San Ramon.

Participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt, beverages, snacks and goodies.

Mayor's Cup trophies will be awarded to the winning pre-registered female/male participants. Trophies will be rewarded to winning overall female/male, and medals will be distributed to the top three finalists in each age group. The wading fountain and awards ceremony will follow the race.

Race-day registration is available at $40 per person.

Check-in and race-day registration begin at 6:30 a.m. at the San Ramon Community Center, 12501 Alcosta Blvd. in San Ramon. The 10K will begin at 8:15 a.m. while the 3K and 5K will begin at 8:20 a.m.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the city of San Ramon's community programs.

For more information, visit online or contact the San Ramon Parks and Community Services Department at 973-3200.
