SRVFPD recognized for financial reporting

Local agency receives certificate for 13th straight year

For the 13th year in a row, the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District has received the certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

"We are pleased to once again receive this award," Ken Campo, the district's interim chief financial officer, said in a statement. "This award reflects the district's commitment to transparency and strong fiscal management."

According to district officials, the district's 2013 comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) was reviewed by a panel of accounting professionals. The panel used generally accepted accounting standards to judge the district's finance principles outlined in the report.

The Government Finance Officers Association said in a statement, "The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District's CAFR meets the highest standards of the program and demonstrates a constructive 'spirit of full disclosure' to clearly communicate its financial story."

The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District serves Alamo, Blackhawk, the town of Danville, Diablo, the city of San Ramon, the southern area of Morgan Territory and the Tassajara Valley, totaling a population of 170,000.
