The ground-breaking of the long-awaited new San Ramon City Hall building is set for Sept. 9 at Central Park.
The 45,000-square-foot building will be located in Bishop Ranch at the southwest corner of Central Park at Bollinger Canyon Road, adjacent to the site of the City Center project.
The building will be two stories high and include a large council chambers, public meeting rooms and a large lobby.
The San Ramon City Council approved a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Sunset Development in October 2013 outlining the terms and conditions under which Sunset would design and construct the new city hall. The MOU also outlined a six-month design period, which would be followed by construction.
The official contract with the developers for the new city hall was approved earlier this summer.
The development plans for the new building are coming to fruition as the ground-breaking is scheduled for Sept. 9 at 5 p.m. The event will include a brief ceremony followed by a reception, according to city officials.
City officials have asked for those interested in attending the ceremony to RSVP to the city clerk at firstname.lastname@example.org or 973-2539.
