Danville police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man they allege broke into a local house overnight Monday and stole credit cards and other items from the home while the unsuspecting residents were inside.

The police department on Wednesday released surveillance video and photographs depicting the man believed to be responsible for the residential break-in after he used the stolen credit cards at gas stations in Alamo and Danville, according to Danville police Lt. Allan Shields.

The burglary incident took place some time between 9 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday at a house on La Jolla Court, near the intersection of El Cerro Boulevard and Diablo Road, according to Shields.

The burglar entered the home, which was occupied at the time, and made off with credit cards and other items, according to Shields. “The homeowners did not know the burglary occurred until they discovered the items missing the next morning,” he added.

Shields declined to release details on how the burglar broke into the house.

Danville police detectives continue to investigate the case, and they have no proof that the La Jolla Court incident is linked to other crimes in the area, Shields said.

As part of the investigation, police used social media on Wednesday to share video and photographs of the man they believe is responsible for the break-in. They also released grainy pictures of a white sedan associated with the man. Shields said investigators don’t know the make or model of the car at this point.

Anyone with information about the incident or the man depicted in the security footage can contact Det. Brian Sliger immediately at 314-3700 or bsliger@danville.ca.gov.

  1. All those considering voting on Prop. 63, please take note. Not too long ago, the mayor of San Ramon said the average police response time is 6 minutes, but could be significantly longer if something else is going on in town.

Even if you are one that does not have the wherewithal to defend yourself and your family in event of a home invasion while waiting for the police to save you, please do not take adequate self defense away from residents that will defend themselves in event of a home invasion. Prop 63 makes it illegal to possess a magazine greater than 10 rounds. Prop 63 inhibits law abiding residents from adequate self defense because no criminal will get rid of their 17 round magazine. (Most semi-automatic hand guns legally purchased prior to 2000 had 13 to 17 round magazines.)

If you do not vote no on Prop. 63, would you please provide your contact # so in event of a home invasion, the people you so thoughtlessly disarmed can call you for assistance in event of home invasion. (We already know the answer, don’t we.)

  2. To Xin Han: During a home invasion, with the knowledge that the average police response is 6 minutes or significantly longer, of course dial 911 first. And so you then would not protect yourself, & instead would wait like Gandhi the pacifist, while an intruder on pcp or crack threatens or attacks you & your family—that’s your choice, and that also is an example of Darwin “sorting things out”, but in a most cruel and likely injurious way to you. Just don’t try to subject me to your limp minded way of thinking.

  3. To: Resident
If you need more than 10 in your clip suggest you get training at the target range. Doesn’t make me feel safe to have 2 people with high capacity automatic weapons blasting away in the neighborhood. Don’t want this to be E. Oakland. Suggest you sell the automatic and purchase a 454 Casull Revolver Raging Bull model. The sound of you cocking or if necessary firing a warning shot would have the guy running with his hair turned white till he was out of state. Much the same is true with the sound of racking and chambering a round in a shotgun. Nobody wants to be on the receiving end of that.

  4. If your strategy is so good, why do the police have semi auto side arms that have magazines exceeding 10 rounds? Why don’t you row your own boat, not mine.

  5. Bruce is absolutely right – if you cannot hit a guy with ten rounds, you’ll already be dead. And if you’ve missed ten %#$@ing times, where are all those bullets going Resident? I hope you don’t live near us.

Perhaps the most important question though is about your “only criminals will have guns (or bigger guns)” insinuation.
Where exactly is it that you keep your mighty weapon that you can get to it so quickly? Surely not in a safe. And what happens when you are not home? Do you lock it up securely when you leave – and if so, what happens should you come home to find a burglary in progress? Or do you take it with you as a concealed weapon in your car? If it’s not locked up, then the burglar probably already has your weapon by the time you get home.

The mental gymnastics people like you go through makes my head spin. Dirty Harry wannabees.

  6. Derek, tell that to the Danville Police Chief so he can remove the large capacity magazines his subordinates; so as to comply with your assessment.

  7. Derek, resident can’t grasp the fact that the “defending ones home” means you are in a defensive position which is much easier to defend as one has knowledge of the area and established plans and positions in case of an attack by a PCP crazy that’s going to come in blasting with his Glock 17 9MM Luger. He probably has a AK-47 too. Nah…. that would be assuming he could plan. The Police on the other hand are out constantly in “no mans land” where you don’t know when or what is coming at you that’s why the higher capacity mag. If the cops came to “residents” place in under 6 minutes he’d probably open up on them. If he survived he would say “well I read that the police response time was 6 minutes so I thought they were the bad guys. He does seem just a mite paranoid…no? 🙂
