Streetwise: Dealing with disaster
Mary Lou Alexander, Retired CPC pre-school teacher: A couple of years ago I got a call that my neighbor across the street had backed her car into my house. I immediately went home to find fire engines, police cars and an ambulance in front of my house. She had driven through my kitchen nook and through the living room, then she drove out again and took another section of the house with her. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries, but I had to live in a motel for about five months.
