Concrete solution

Concrete was poured Monday morning on the sidewalk in front of Danville's new parking lot at 177 Front St. The Town of Danville was planning to open the new 81-space public parking lot sometime this week.

Town Development Services Director and City Engineer Steve Lake said Monday the lot still needed to be striped and landscaped, which may be finished within one or two months. The sprinklers already have been installed. The lot will have 64 full-sized spaces, 13 parking spaces for compact-sized vehicles and four handicapped spaces. It will also have parking for bicycles.

The new lot is situated between the historic Vecki House, now an office complex, and the Danville Town Meeting Hall. It backs up to the businesses of Sweet Magnolia, Forward Motion and Christie James Fine Jewelry Works. The project includes a pedestrian walkway to Hartz Avenue alongside Forward Motion and a pedestrian pathway to Prospect Avenue.
