Monday is a school holiday

Schools in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District will be closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which is Monday, Jan. 15.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday honoring King, who was born Jan. 14, 1929. The day is on the third Monday in January, and it was first celebrated in 1986. King led the Civil Rights Movement, which led to social and legal reforms enacted to end racial discrimination against African-Americans and other minority groups.
