Fun and fashion in Alamo

Members of the Alamo Women's Club are inviting everyone to join them for an afternoon of fun and fashion at their Goodwill Bags Fashion Show displaying clothing from the 1850s through the 1970s.

The fundraiser, which benefits Hospice and other local charities, will take place from 11:45 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Friday, April 20, at the Alamo Women's Club, on Danville Boulevard. Tickets are $35 and reservations are due by April 15; call 837-6548.

The club was founded in 1906 as a philanthropic and social organization and currently has 55 members, women with a wide range of interests, talents and ages. Some have been in the area for many years and others are newcomers. Their common bond is an interest in serving the community. Currently the club gives to Vestia, the Family Stress Center, Meals on Wheels, Operation Family Fund, the Salvation Army and the Heifer Foundation, and with scholarships to Monte Vista and San Ramon high schools, as well as a student at Diablo Valley College.
