asked near Peet's Coffee & Tea in Danville

Have you ever run into people being obnoxious with cell phones?

Many drivers use them. Also in restaurants and in grocery stores when people talk very loud and you have to listen to all their personal conversations. I gave my phone up when I retired so I can be free when I choose. Even going on walks I hear people on their cell phones. They almost isolate themselves on their phones.

Although cell phones are a necessary part of today's life, the BART train isn't your personal living room. I hear a little too much information about personal affairs. I don't ride BART very often but I haven't had a quiet BART ride in years.

All the time. I guess I find people tend to use them to excess and be very inconsiderate of other people and their surroundings. When I go to Peet's in the morning, people have them attached to their ears and are very loud, very disruptive. The other thing I've noticed is they go up each aisle in the grocery store saying, "Do we have this?" and "Do we have that?" What happened to lists?

All the time. People lose focus and control on cell phones and can't respond to reality. Although some people (in the checkout line) can be helpful even while they're on their cell phone. In the grocery store, people will be yelling and screaming or laughing loudly. Or saying, "CAN YOU HEAR ME?"

It's just terrible. They're rude. We just took the boys, 5 and 3, to the movies last week and they, probably teenagers, were on their cell phones talking and talking. Nobody can live without a cell phone. I turn if off when I go into the grocery store.
