"The community is anxious for the market to open as one of the vital elements of the Thursday night Downtown Danville event schedule," said Max Timms, the market manager with the Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association.
The market will operate from 4-8 p.m. each Thursday from May 10 through Aug. 16 in the town parking lot at the corner of Railroad and Prospect, the same location as the Saturday market.
The new market will provide farm-fresh products for residents who might be unable to shop at the Saturday market. In addition to the opening night activities, special events have been planned for every Thursday throughout the summer season. These events include recycling awareness, a seniors night, transportation night, emergency awareness and the Summer Solstice Health Fair. In addition three special Kid's Nights are planned for the first Thursday of each month.
The Thursday Danville Farmers' Market is a partnership between the Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association, which operates the market, and the Town of Danville, the market's sponsor. In addition to providing the region's best selection of the season's freshest and best fruits and vegetables, the market will offer exciting community events each week. And each week the farmers market will also offer live music, fresh cut flowers, nuts, baked breads, barbecue, kettle corn and prepared foods.
