Sharks excel at Far Westerns

Crow Canyon Sharks, USA Swim Team excelled at the Far Western Championship held at the Dolores Bengtson Aquatic Center in Pleasanton earlier this month. More than 140 teams competed at the four-day meet, from California, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Oklahoma, Virginia, Idaho and Maryland.

The Sharks placed fifth overall, with a total of 243 points, earning 39 top eight finishes in individual and relay events, and seven first-place finishes.

A highlight of the event was Madison White, who hit the wall in 59.24 seconds in the 100 backstroke, breaking the USA Pacific Swim record made by Amanda Sims in 2002.

The 11-12-year-old girls 200 Free relay team of Madison White, Lexi Troup, Alexa Cavallo and Vanesa Johnson finished first with a time of 1.44.06, missing the record of 1.43.95.
