asked at Danville Library

What's the best or worst thing you do for the environment?

I volunteer teaching children about animals. I was an Oakland Zoo docent and I talk about species, habitat and why they might be endangered. The kids really get into it. They're so bright. They're gonna be the ones to come up with a solution to fix what we've ruined. I have to work on driving less, maybe bicycle more.

I try not to use the air conditioning in my car - even when it's hot. The emissions in the AC aren't good and it saves gas. What do I do that's bad? I sometimes throw my cigarette butts on the ground. I feel really bad about it. I don't smoke that much, only when I'm studying or out at night.

Well, I have a compost pile. I think about not wasting things. But I did buy a Mini instead of a Prius.

I unplug unused electronics when I leave the house. I read somewhere they still use electricity even when they're off. And bad: I don't always buy organic food. In non-organic food they use pesticides that get into the earth and release emissions. I go to school for fashion but my critical thinking teacher was big on the environment.

I have a long commute - 35 miles from Pittsburg to Pleasanton. I know gas is, well, it's getting up there. But I always recycle.
