Trustees pass gift policy

Trustees OK'd the new policy at their last meeting regarding employees accepting gifts in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. Board members Joan Buchanan, Bill Clarkson and Rachel Hurd voted in favor of the policy. Trustee Greg Marvel said he supported the concept but voted "no" because the draft was not strict enough, he said. Board President Paul Gardner was absent.

The policy delineates how district employees and board members can accept gifts. It states that the acceptance of cash in any amount for personal use is prohibited. Cash may only be accepted for school or district purposes. Employees and trustees cannot accept gifts that cumulatively exceed $390 in a calendar year from a single source.

For information, call the district human resources department at 552-2923.
