Police stop freeway speeder and find lock picks

Danville police arrested 24-year-old Michael Luccini of Pleasant Hill last week for allegedly carrying lock picks and violating his probation for drug offenses.

Police Detective Paul Murphy stopped a dark green 2004 Pontiac driving on northbound on I-680 by El Cerro Boulevard for speeding at 4 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, said police Sgt. Troy Craig. Upon further investigation, Murphy saw Luccini sitting on the passenger side and carrying lock picks and burglary tools, according to reports.

After further research, he discovered that Luccini was in violation of his probation for drug offenses, police reports said. Murphy arrested the suspect and he was sent to the detention facility in Martinez.

Craig said police have been monitoring the area around El Cerro for burglary thefts, and as a result, officers have been able to crack down on these crimes.
