Spring Fest, Devil Mountain Run taking place this weekend

Danville will be hopping this weekend, with the town's Spring Fest taking place tomorrow from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and the Workday Devil Mountain Run happening Sunday.

The Spring Fest, sponsored by the town and the Police Department, takes place at the Danville Community Center, 420 Front St., with activities for all ages, including food, entertainment, arts and crafts, carnival games and a bicycle rodeo. Danville will also conclude My Own Marathon, where participants walked their 26.2 miles at their own pace between Jan. 1 and May 5.

The Workday Devil Mountain Run 5K/10K run will begin at 8 a.m., Sunday, May 6, on Railroad Avenue at Prospect in front of the Museum of the San Ramon Valley, one heading north and the other south then returning via the Iron Horse Tail. The Children's Run begins at 9:30 a.m. in Lunardi's parking lot with non-competitive 50-100 yard dashes for ages 3-8.

Volunteers and participants can register by calling (415) 759-2690 or visiting www.childrenshospitaloakland.org. Onsite registrations will be available from 6:30-7:45 a.m., Sunday, May 6. The run benefits Children's Hospital and Research Center Oakland.

"This race is a community celebration that brings people together for a wonderful day and an admirable cause," said title sponsor Dave Duffield, founder of Workday and PeopleSoft.
