Danville man speaks at Special Olympics

Danville resident MJ Mc Colgan gave a speech at the VIP reception at the Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games, which were held on the campus of UC Berkeley from June 8-10.

MJ Mc Colgan, who was born with a strain of cerebral palsy, is the 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 Northern California Special Olympics Gold Medal State Golf Champion. He has also won three National Championships. In 2004, he was inducted into the 2004 San Francisco Tri-Valley Sports Hall Of Fame.

American Idol's Katherine Mc Phee and David Garibaldi performed at the opening ceremony of the Summer Games, then the 1,200 athletes competed for two days in sporting events.
