Crime ripple strikes Danville

A string of burglaries hit Danville last weekend, said police Sgt. Troy Craig.

Four or five auto burglaries, two auto thefts and two residential burglaries occurred over the weekend, he said. Criminals stole items such as laptops and briefcases in the auto burglaries, according to police reports.

"In the majority of cases we have some leads that we are actively following up on," Craig said.

He noted that people have left their items in plain view in their vehicles for thieves to take.

"Had the laptop or briefcases not been in the car, the criminal wouldn't have had the opportunity to succeed," he said.

The autos stolen were a 1998 red Honda and a 1995 Honda.

"One was on St. Joan Court and another was stolen in Fostoria Circle in the Costco parking lot," Craig said.

Jewelry and an expensive watch were taken from a building, and a flat panel television and other large items were burglarized from a residence; its owners were away on vacation at the time of the robbery.
