Warning about West Nile Virus

Two more dead birds have tested positive for West Nile virus, found in San Ramon and Lafayette, reports Deborah Bass, spokeswoman for the Contra Costa Mosquito and Vector Control District. Last year in Contra Costa County, eight people were documented with West Nile Virus and two people died.

"We can't stress enough the importance of making mosquito control part of a family routine, like taking out the garbage. It should just be something that people do routinely," said Bass.

The district is spraying for mosquitoes, with information at www.ccmvcd.dst.ca.us, or call 685-9301.
