Competing at Castlewood

The Golf World West Coast Championship held at Castlewood Country Club Hill Course in Pleasanton last week included local golfers Jack Bieber of Alamo, who recorded a 222 to place 14th in a field of 74. Jeffrey Hamm of Danville placed 23rd with a 225, and Cole Pickavance of Danville was 28th with a 227.

The championship was a 54-hole stroke play event with 99 players from eight states. The boys' winner was Shane Lebow of Santa Barbara, who carded a 2-over-par 212. In the girls division, Mina Herigae of Monterey came in first place with a 2-over-par 215 tournament total.

The tournament was conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.
