County Connection, bus drivers reach agreement

County Connection reached a tentative agreement last week with the bus drivers' union on a new contract, said Mary Burdeck, County Connection manager of marketing and public relations. The union voted to ratify its contract this week. Terms of the agreement have not been disclosed to the public.

"I think everyone is going to be pleased to have this behind us," Burdeck said.

County Connection provides fixed-route and paratransit service throughout the Central Contra Costa communities of Danville, Alamo, San Ramon, Clayton, Concord, Martinez, Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek, Lafayette, Orinda and Moraga, as well as unincorporated communities. There are a total of 200 drivers.

The drivers' union contract expired at the end of January and negotiations began in the fall of last year, Burdeck said. She noted a prior contract several months ago had been voted down amid changes in union leadership.
