Kiwanis club fundraising going strong

The Kiwanis Club of the San Ramon Valley has achieved its highest ever total in its 50-year history for community service projects and grants in 2007 - a total of $69,857. It raises funds by selling sponsorships for the Kiwanis-run 4th of July Parade in Danville and an annual golf tournament. During the past 10 years, it was distributed more than $300,000 to area charities.

On Oct. 11, the club will present $10,000 in supplemental grants ranging from $1,500 to $3,000 to four nonprofit agencies, Loaves and Fishes, Family Stress Center, Senior Helpline Services and Monument Crisis Center.
