I-680 shuts down Wednesday after chemical spill

Interstate 680 was closed in Dublin around 7:40 a.m. Wednesday after a pickup truck carrying swimming pool chemicals overturned on 680 northbound near the 580 interchange. The chemicals were scattered across all lanes of the freeway.

"Chemicals included chlorine and acid," said Officer Scott Yox of the California Highway Patrol.

A hazardous materials team cleaned up the spill, and people were advised to keep their windows closed.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at Valley Care Medical Center in Pleasanton, said CHP Officer Steve Creel.
