Of note

The Knights of Columbus Council 4060 from St. Isidore Parish in Danville will be collecting donations at Alamo Safeway on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 19-20, to help people with disabilities. The statewide Columbian Foundation for People with Mental Retardation Inc. was founded in 1987, and the local council has raised more than $38,000 since then. This year its goal is $4,000.

The Knights will be handing out free Tootsie Tolls, regardless of the donation. To make a contribution, call 855-1799. One hundred percent of local donations will go to Mauzy School in Alamo; Respite Inn in Concord, and Contra Costa ARC in Martinez.
