Alamo to honor the Armed Forces

The Alamo Parks and Recreation Committee invites everyone to help honor the U.S. Armed Forces from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 17, at Hap Magee Ranch Park, 1025 La Gonda Way. Speakers will include Capt. Woodie Spears, member of the famed Tuskegee Airmen; Congressional Gold Medal recipient Sgt. Joey Bozik, an Iraq War veteran; and Supervisor Mary N. Piepho. After a formal presentation, there will be time to meet the veterans, and refreshments will be served.

The Blue Star Moms will be on hand to collect items to send to the troops in their holiday packages, and suggest individually packaged powder drinks, candies, games, soothing sound CDs, DVDs, sudoku, card games, cotton crew socks, or cash to cover postage. They will also collect cards with positive notes to be given to the soldiers.
