School benefit to help Darfur

The Athenian School raised more than $4,000 at its second annual Darfur Benefit Show on Dec. 6 at its Center for the Arts. The benefit event was produced by students in the Holocaust Seminar course. All proceeds will be donated to aid in raising awareness and relief for the victims of the Sudanese genocide.

The event included music, dance and poetry performances by Athenian students, and a Sudanese survivor spoke to the audience. At the end of the evening, there was a silent auction featuring student work donated in support of stopping the genocide in Darfur.
