Danville Crushers 11U are Champions

The Danville Crushers 11U pulled off a dramatic victory in the championship game by beating the Livermore Dirtbags, 4-3, in the April 18-19 Nation's Baseball Spring Slugfest in Sunnyvale. On their way to a perfect 5 win and 0 loss tournament, the Crushers defeated the Los Altos-Mountain View Titans 10-2; the Dirtbags 5-2; and the Half Moon Bay Pirates 10-2. In the playoffs the Crushers once again beat the Titans, 21, before defeating the Dirtbags in the finals.

The Crushers gave up only 10 runs in five games and yielding three errors in the whole tournament. Nick Graditi led the way on the mound picking up two wins including the championship game. Dawson Vasconi, Arman Mogharei and Tate Alley played stellar defense behind the plate, while Mogharei also picked up two saves. Kevin Velo, Connor Bruce and Gordon Faust also were victorious on the mound. Davis Bender, Will Dennis, Dante Peretti and Tyler Larson each paved the way with their bats, with Dennis picking up the one-run save in the semifinals. Trip McComas was a machine at shortstop making 15 consecutive plays. Connor Binning and Chase Geertsen had key contributions in the field and at the plate. The Crushers are coached by Matt Crudale.
