Golf takes grip under sunny skies

Monte Vista High School men's varsity golf team faced California High at Round Hill Country Club on Thursday, March 6. The Mustangs prevailed, with a final score of 194-206.

San Ramon Valley men's golf team placed third out of 24 schools at the Gambetta Invitational on Monday, March 3. The five-man team shot a combined score of 385 at Lone Tree Golf Course in Antioch, finishing 11 strokes behind winner De La Salle and five strokes behind second-place Foothill. Senior Mike Perchak and junior Cole Pickavance tied as the second-low individuals with rounds of 1-under 71.

The team concluded the week by winning its first two EBAL matches to improve to 4-0 overall, 2-0 in league. The Wolves beat Amador Valley 184-197 on Tuesday at Crow Canyon County Club, and Granada 193-206 on Thursday at Poppy Ridge in Livermore. Perchak and Pickavance shot 1-over 35s to lead the team to its victory over Amador. Pickavance shot a 1-under 35 against Granada, while senior Alex Calleja added a 1-over 37.
