Bueren's career with Contra Costa began in 1981 as a junior civil engineer. Her experience spans several of the department's divisions: flood control, design, construction and transportation engineering.
"This department is amazing. Our teams keep the roads and flood channels clear, we keep cars and airplanes moving," said Bueren. "It's a very exciting place to be, for an engineer. I completely appreciate the team of people I get to work with and the level of public trust invested in me and this position."
Bueren was born and raised in the Bay Area, and earned her civil engineering degree from UC Davis. She is involved in statewide and regional transportation issues and serves as head of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission's Local Streets and Roads Working Group.
